Description

  • ASAP - ongoing until a perm is hired
  • When in Clinic: Monday-Friday 7:30 - 5 PM. If covering the weekly OR schedule: 6 AM - 4 PM, When covering the ED/Inpatient rounding /call: 7 Am - 5 PM.
  • Call start after 5 Pm- 7 AM the next AM during the week. When on weekend call: Friday 5 Pm- Monday 7 Am. ( will be first call from the inpatient units and ED for the neurosurgeons.
  • Call ratio: 1 in 4-5 based on availability
  • Practice setting: Neurosurgical Clinic: seeing post op patients, suture/staple removals, pre-op teaching, working new cases up based on back pain- starting the diagnostic workup for neurosurgical referrals.
  • Reason for coverage: 2 neurosurgery PAs are leaving, and vacancies
  • Average number of surgical cases per day: 3-5
  • EMR: Epic
  • Level 2
  • # of ORs: 28, but operating less due to lack of staffing
  • OR staff: RN, surg techs
  • # of neurosurgeons in practice: 3
  • Patient age demographics: adult, geriatrics
  • Required duties: pre-op physical exam, suture removal, diagnose illnesses, treat illnesses, order tests, assist in surgery, write prescriptions, coordination of care, pre-op spine surgery teaching, EPIC order entry, documentation via EPIC, reading tests will be in conjunction with neurosurgeons
  • APP will be working autonomously - one of the neurosurgeons will be assigned with the PA at all times
  • Graduated from accredited PA program, neurosurgical PA training and competency - no new grads
  • Credentialing timeline: ~45-60 days

  • Board Certified - Required
  • Graduated from accredited PA program, neurosurgical PA training and competency - no new grads
  • Active MI license - Highly Preferred
  • MI DEA and CSR - Required
  • BLS - Required
  • COVID vaccine - Required, note at time of name clear
